Book of the Day: We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

by Helen Oxenbury and Michael Rosen

This is one of Luke’s favorites!  At first, he was a little unsure about the bear, but now he really enjoys the book.

The book tells about a dad and his children going on a bear hunt.  Real or imagined?  You be the judge!

“We’re going on a bear hunt.  We’re going to catch a big one.  What a beautiful day.  We’re not scared!”  It’s a fantastic journey through grass, across a river, through the mud, into a snowstorm, –“We can’t go over it.  We can’t go under it.  Oh no!  We’ve got to go through it!” — until they finally find a bear, who chases them back through everything they’ve come through, all the way home.

Repetitive text and lots of sound words, make this a really fun read!
