Child Training Bible Review and Giveaway

Child training bible review and giveaway

The Child Training Bible is an excellent resource for anyone wanting to get more from the Bible or anyone who wants to have a system in place for using the Word in real life situations.  It’s a really great system to use when teaching kids, though I find it more than helpful for me as an adult and parent, too!

Basically the Child Training Bible is a list of topics with corresponding verses mapped out for you.  It’s a system you can use with any 9″ x 6″ Bible you want as you put it together yourself, so you can use the translation of your choice!

You tape the main Child Training Bible key card into the front of your Bible.  Then you use colored highlighters to highlight the verses for each of the 20 topics as well as mark them with a matching colored flag.  There are 3 Scripture Tabbing charts you use when making the Bible and then store in the back of the Bible for later reference and use.

This YouTube video by Mindy, the creator of the CTB, and her husband was the most helpful to me when I was first learning about The Child Training Bible as it explains EVERYTHING!

I worked on putting our Child Training Bible together in my spare time over a couple of weeks.  It took me awhile, but it was such a blessing to go through the Bible and read all those verses myself!  It was much more meaningful than if it had come already assembled!

I was getting so much out of my Bible reading that I told my husband that it was less of a CHILD Training Bible and more of a PEOPLE Training Bible.  He responded that we are all God’s children, so it was still a CHILD Training Bible.  I just loved that insight so much!!

Once the Child Training Bible is all put together, it makes a great resource for topical Bible Study, or as a handy guide to see what the Bible says about a certain issue like fear, complaining, or tattling.  Sometimes we use it to address issues our children are having; for example, if they’re not sharing well, we might talk about a few of the verses highlighted under the selfishness tab.

All in all, this is a very handy resource to have in your house if you want to teach your children directly from the Bible, or even if you want to learn and read more yourself.  I think it will be very handy in our homeschool for years to come as well as for general parenting purposes.

I’ve made a CTB for our house but also purchased materials to make one for each child to have as they get older and can read on their own, so they can keep it forever and maybe use it with their own children some day.
