Dad’s Top 5 Things to do with your Toddler / Preschooler

things to do with your toddler

After coming up with the idea to do a “Top 5 Things to Do with Your Toddler/Preschooler” series on the blog, I decided I’d ask Dad what he thought the top 5 things to do were.  I had already written mine up, but didn’t share them with him.

My Top 5 were:
Here’s what Dad said the top 5 things to do with your toddler/preschooler are:
  1. Limit TV
  2. Read to them
  3. Have a lot of books available for them
  4. Practice fine motor skill activities
  5. Do lots of memory activities — memorizing songs, nursery rhymes, Bible verses, etc.
Dad actually started off his list by saying, “Have a stay at home mom.”  I veto’d that one just because I want this list to apply to everyone and I know that some people don’t have that option even if that’s what they’d prefer to do.  We are blessed that we are able to provide that for our kids.  It is a sacrifice in some ways, but it is super important to us.  While I know it just isn’t possible for everyone, if you do have the ability, I think being at home with mom (or dad!) is the best option for your children.  If you can’t stay at home with them full-time, make the most of the time you do have.  Always remember that you are your child’s first and best teacher!

I thought it was pretty neat that several of our responses were very similar!

What do YOU think are the top 5 most important things to do with your toddler/preschooler?
