Even More Fun Activities for Kids using a Turkey Baster

Yesterday I shared 5 Fun Activities for Kids using a Turkey Baster as a guest post on WRAL: Go Ask Mom.  Click here to read my original post and even find out where I’ve found turkey basters for just a dollar each!!!

But that’s not all!

Here are EVEN MORE ways to have fun with a turkey baster!

turkey baster activities for kids

Painting:
Here’s a neat way to splatter paint poster board or canvas using a turkey baster.  Greening Sam and Avery did a simple art activity to make rain.  You might try painting cloth like Childhood 101, or even painting snow like Child Central Station.  And definitely be sure to save this DIY way to paint ombre Easter eggs using a turkey baster for next spring!

Fine Motor Practice/Water Transfer:
PreKinders gives tips for varying the standard turkey baster water transfer activity in her Sensory Table ideas post, and To the Lesson demonstrates a way to make the activity fit in with the season.

Water Play:
Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas did a hands-on ice age dino dig using turkey basters.  Teaching 2 and 3 Year Olds let the kids use turkey basters and tubes with a frozen water table.  Fun!

Cooking With Kids:
Perhaps you are talented enough to attempt some of these turkey baster pancake masterpieces by Nathan Shields.  His work is simply amazing, isn’t it?!?!

Science Experiments:
Try this 7 layer density column from Steve Spangler Science, and here’s a fun way to experiment with color mixing by The Domestic Notebook, both using turkey basters.  Here’s a neat pic that shows how you might use a turkey baster pump to model the heart’s valves.

Pretend Play:
Check out this awesome pretend play Thanksgiving Feast by Toddler Approved.  While they didn’t actually use turkey basters in this particular set up, your kids would probably love one added to their play kitchen after they’ve seen you use one on a real turkey!

I’ll bet you never knew one little kitchen gadget could do so much!! :)
