  1. A Child’s Calendar, Poems by John Updike — features an EXCELLENT poem for each month of the year; we use these during our Calendar time!

Here are my favorite two stanzas from the October poem by Updike:
“At last, small witches,
Goblins, hags,
And pirates armed
With paper bags,

Their costumes hinged
On safety pins,
Go haunt a night
Of pumpkin grins.”
