Looking for outings for your kids? Socialization? New to your area?

For all of those reasons, I looked on to find a local mom’s group.

I ended up joining 2 and now there are always outings on our calendar and L&L (and me!) have made lots of new friends.

We’ve also learned lots about what’s out there in our community–museums, parks, events, restaurants…places and things we wouldn’t otherwise have known about!

There is usually a small fee to join a group, but most will let you try it out for free first!  One of my groups costs $5/year and the other is $25/year — I consider this to be very reasonable for the wealth of information and fun we get from the groups!  They also throw parties using the dues money, so we even get some of it back that way. — Helps groups of people with shared interests plan meetings and form offline clubs in local communities around the world

In addition to Mom’s groups, there are meetup groups for just about any topic out there — photographers; homeschoolers; single parents; working parents; book clubs; groups by age; stay at home dads; eating groups–vegans, vegetarians, raw foodies, locavores; exercise groups; and more!  If you have a hobby or interest, there is probably a meetup group out there for you — or you can always create your own!

Have you joined any Meetup groups?
