Thrifty Earth Day Wreath

We needed a new wreath for our front door and I happened across a cute “Earth Day” wreath on Pinterest.  Here’s the link to the Under the Table and Dreaming by Stephanie Lynn blog post with photos and directions.  I don’t think mine turned out nearly as cute as hers did, but I’m sharing anyway because I think the idea is really neat…and thrifty, too!

Can you guess what it’s made out of?

That’s right!  Plastic grocery bags!

Mine is made a little differently in that I couldn’t find the wreath form she used.  I used a straw wreath instead.  It was $3.99 at A. C. Moore.

I also didn’t dig holes into the wreath like she did; I simply glued the ends of the bags onto the wreath.  It seemed to work okay.  We’ll see how it holds up.

This was not a project the kids could really help with, but they did watch and they thought it was cool we made something new out of the plastic bags.  If you want to give it a try, check out Stephanie Lynn’s post for all the how-to’s

Happy Earth Day!
